Joan Davis is one of the firm’s primary litigators, who
focuses her practice on complex commercial and real estate
litigation, as well as serious injury and death cases. She
has a wide range of experience in federal district court,
federal bankruptcy court, and the state courts of North
Carolina and many other states. Joan’s practice is
consistent with the firm’s philosophy of providing legal
services to meet the various needs of businesses and their
owners. In addition to her work as a litigator, she
represents many small businesses in the role of general
counsel. Joan represents a number of real estate developers,
shopping centers, and homeowners’ associations, and is the
regional land-use counsel for Eckerd Corporation. She also
represents regional banking interests in complicated loan
restructuring and complex bankruptcy matters.
Joan graduated from the University of North Carolina law school with honors. While in law school, she served as the Articles Editor for the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation, where she received the William T. Joyner award for excellence in legal writing, and she was active in the National Lawyers Guild. She was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1990. Joan is a member of the Wake County, North Carolina and American Bar Associations. She is an active member of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys and served on the Education Committee from 1990 to 1993.
