Joe Stallings is one of the firm’s leaders in establishing a
practice that addresses the diverse legal needs of our
business clients and their owners. Joe’s litigation
background, based on his years as a Wall Street commercial
litigator, combined with his business representation in New
Bern and Raleigh, North Carolina, give his practice a
multi-dimensional quality. His practice is ideally suited to
the varied and multifaceted needs of growing businesses, as
well as the individuals who make those businesses
successful. Commencing with his service on Wall Street, Joe
has successfully opposed many major law firms in complex
commercial and civil litigation matters. Joe was admitted to
the New York State Bar in 1976 and the North Carolina State
Bar in 1979. He is also admitted to practice in a number of
federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. As an
undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, he was a Morehead Scholar, Student Body President,
North Carolina Fellow, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In
law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the North
Carolina Law Review, was a member of the Order of the Coif
and graduated with honors. A few examples of Joe’s service
to his community are his membership on the University of
North Carolina Board of Governors, 1991-1995; his chairing
the U.S. Small Business Administration N.C. Advisory
Council, 1988, 1989; and his membership on the Board of
Trustees of the University of North Carolina, 1971-1972.
